Project Governance
Project Governance is the management framework within which project decisions are made. Typically this comprises the Steering team, Project Manager, Business Process Owners, other management / executives (stakeholders) plus Key Users.
Our role in providing Project Governance services is threefold:-
- Process & Structure
- Adherence
- Timeliness
Developing Proper Processes and Structures
A key aspect of correct project governance is a clear structure and process for both decision making and delivery. At the outset of our engagement with you, our consultants work closely with the project team to ensure that this is in place and fully understood by all stakeholders.
A clear decision making structure ensures that the right choices can be both made and heard so that they can be implemented.
Our presence in the regular project meetings ensures that the correct structures are maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project and that strong communication channels are used so that all stakeholders are fully appraised of work that is ongoing and contributing to the overall success of the project in meeting pre-defined goals.
Achieving Consistency by Ensuring that the Defined Process is Followed
With a clear structure and process in place, it is essential that this is adhered to correctly. Through correctly managing the life cycle of the project in line with a defined process / structure, monitoring progress becomes more straightforward.
Harness work with large teams to ensure that the correct processes are fully defined at the commencement of the project through the creation of appropriate documentation including Business Requirements Documents and Project Initiation Documents.
These become a core part of the project governance process throughout the duration of our work. They are regularly referred back to by consultants and used as the basis for judging progress and ensuring that work is on track to achieve the business’ goals.
Timeliness and Project Governance
Ensuring that background work is being carried out in a timely fashion such that decisions can be made, at the right time, using the correct information
One of the ways many projects go off track and lose time is because of failing to achieve Timeliness. Decisions get delayed because of incomplete information.
With our wealth of project experience Harness can forecast the decisions that will need making, and help identify the work that needs to be carried out to enable the right information to be delivered in time.
